August 9, 1933 - October 20, 2014
Col. Thomas Barret Schmidt, age 81, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014. He was born and raised in San Antonio. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School and Texas A&M University, he joined the U.S. Air Forceand traveled the world. Col. Schmidt supported several high ranking officers during NATO and SEATO gatherings. After serving for 30 years, he returned home to San Antonio. Thomas was very active in the ARC community and was a member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church and led the Seekers Class. He was predeceased by his beloved dog, Beau. Thomas is survived by his sister, Hallie B. Ketchum and husband, James Allen; nephews, Richard A Ketchum and wife, Susan, Paul L. Ketchum and wife, Anna and Thomas B. Ketchum and wife, Tanya; great nephews, Todd and Barret Ketchum; friends, Dr. Jay Lewallen and wife, Diane and Jim Kleypas and wife, Diane, Jim Gaffney and Ann Mitchum.
