Wayne Boze Funeral Home obituary

DONYA RAE CAMPBELL
May 28, 1967 - September 17, 2014

Donya Rae Campbell, 47 of Maypearl, Texas passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. She was born May 28, 1967 in Waxahachie, Texas to Donald & Betty Lou Armstrong Campbell. Donya grew up in Maypearl, Texas. Her parents, Donald Ray and Betty, owned a farm and a feed store where she and her brother, Ray Lynn learned the value of hard work and persistence. In high school, she was a cheerleader, basketball player and a class officer. She was an active member of the Future Farmers of America and National Honor Society. She was Homecoming Queen in 1985, her senior year. She began her college experience on a scholarship to Navarro College. There she was a cheerleader, National Honor Society member and Homecoming Queen. She went on to Texas A. & M., where she attained her degree in Aerospace Engineering. Her love of learning never faltered and she continued her education, attaining a Masters of Business while working the job she loved. She was awarded an internship with American Airlines after college and that was to be the pivotal point in her adult life. She worked for American Airlines for 23 years. Her professional life was so important to her and her American Airlines co-workers were family. She worked on many important projects including the installation of wing-heater blankets on the MD-80 fleet and the “Katie Bar” that now secures the cockpit from trespass after 9-11. She attained the title of Director, F.A.A. Liaison, and was so excited about this new chapter in her work. She loved to travel, ski, swim and read. She was a humble person with a precious, giving spirit and she will be sorely missed. She was a caring friend, loving family member and compassionate co-worker to so many. In her honor, we should all be a little kinder, work a little harder and love each other just a little bit more.

She is survived by her father Donald Ray Campbell of Maypearl, Texas; 1 Brother & Sister in Law: Ray Lynn & Shaena Campbell of Maypearl, Texas; Niece Shadoh & Brandon Lassetter of Palmer, Texas; Niece: Sage Campbell of Maypearl, Texas.
