Retired research scientist

MIDDLEBURY — Aspet Merijanian, 86, died peacefully at Waterbury Hospital on June 19, 2014. He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Lucille (Aljian) Merijanian, as well as his siblings, Ashot (Valerie), Aris (Gohar) and Shnorik (Vahram). He was a beloved uncle, godfather, mentor and loyal friend to many.

Aspet, son of the late Vartan and Aroosiak, was born in Abadan, Iran. He immigrated to the United States as a young man and pursued his education. He earned his bachelor's and masters' degrees at Southwest Texas State University and his PhD at Texas A&M. He was a research scientist at Uniroyal from 1964 until his retirement in 1995.

A memorial service was held in New Jersey attended by family and friends.
