Memorial services for Bob C. Jones, M.D., age 77, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Madisonville, Texas. Following the service there will be a reception and celebration at the Kimbro Center.
Bob C. Jones, M.D. was born October 1, 1936 in North Zulch, TX to Hiram Cecil Jones and Anna McBride Jones. A proud alumni of North Zulch High School Class of '53, Dr. Jones received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas A&M in 1959. He graduated with High Honors from University of TexasMedical School in Galveston in 1963.
After two years in the United States Air Force, he was a Family Practice physician in Kerens, Trinity, Madisonville, Huntsville, and Normangee. Dr. Jones was on the faculty at University of Texas Medical Branch in Houston. Later in life, he served as an Emergency Room Physician at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield, Grimes Health Center in Navasota, and The Physicians Center in College Station.
For numerous years, Dr. Jones served as a member and leader for First United Methodist Church and the Madisonville Independent School District as a board member. These were but a small demonstration of his faith and tireless service to the communities he loved.
Dr. Jones passed into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Jo Ann Jones; two sons, Hiram Daniel Jones and his wife Kathy, Samuel Wayne Jones and friend Kelly Thornburg; five grandsons, Tyler, Asa, Gus, Jack and Oliver Jones; and one great granddaughter Rose Jones. He is also survived by two sisters, Ozelle Eaton and Lou Lewis; brother in-laws Nolan Emert, Jack Emert, Wayne Emert, Coy Emert and wife Pat; numerous nieces, nephews, colleagues and friends.
