EARL A. THOMPSON III (67), beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather, died surrounded by family on April 7, 2014 after a long and courageous fight. Earl was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio and spent his youth in Palestine, Texas before residing in Northwest Houston. Earl graduated from Texas A&M University in 1969 and married his wife, Dora, in 1970.
Earl was the first born of four children and is preceded in death by parents E.A. "Ace" Thompson Jr. and Ann Lathe Thompson and younger brother Edward Thompson. Earl is survived by his loving wife of almost 44 years Dora Doss Thompson. He is further survived by his sister Jo Ann Thompson Stewart, brother Robert Stephen Thompson, sons Jeff and Jeremy Thompson, daughter Amanda Thompson Dadarria and her husband PF, and 7 grandchildren Connor, Dillon, Kayla, Paytn, Jordan, Mikey, and Haley. Nothing gave him more pleasure then bragging on his children and spending time with his grandchildren.
Earl was dedicated to serving his community. He was a State Farm Insurance Agent for over 40 years in the Cy-Fair area. He has served as a Master Mason, a life member of the Houston 100 Club, Trustee of the Cy-Fair Education Foundation, and life member in the American Legion. He remained active in Veterans of Foreign Wars, 11th Armored Calvary Veterans, and served as the Past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 9.
Earl will be forever remembered for his passion, optimism, dedication to family and friends, and his red carnation.
Friends may visit with his family from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Klein Funeral Home, Champions, where funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11. Interment will follow in Klein Memorial Park.
