Jack Schott '78 October 22, 2013 8:47 AM

Guinn-Horger Funeral Home obituary

Jack Kemp Schott
Born in Hondo, Texas on May 25, 1956
Departed on Oct. 5, 2013 and resided in Katy, TX.

Jack Kemp Schott, 57, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2013.

Born May 25, 1956, to Jack William Schott and Helen Linore Kempe Schott,

Jack grew up in Devine, Texas, surrounded by family and friends. He enjoyed playing football and being involved in school activities at Devine High School. Jack was a graduate of Texas A&M University (Class of '78), completing a degree in engineering technology.

Jack and Kathryn Mary Martin were married July 26, 1980. Jack worked for Shell in Houston for over 33 years. He and Kay lived nearby in Katy and raised their children there. One of Jack's goals was to have a yard large enough to need a riding lawn mower, and he enjoyed having plenty of space for his children and his canine friends.

Jack enjoyed watching many Aggie sports, professional football, and NASCAR. For 20 years, Jack supported his children's athletic endeavors—soccer, basketball, and track. Jack enjoyed visiting with friends and playing Texas Hold 'Em. He always had two or three "Jack Jokes" ready to tell. These were busy, happy times, and he formed many lasting friendships.

Jack had a sense of adventure. He enjoyed sandblasting and painting water towers during the summers while he was in college. He loved to travel with his job; working on a drill ship in the Chukchi Sea involved planes, helicopters, and ships, all of which were fascinating to Jack.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Mark Schott.

Jack is survived by his wife, Kay; his son Charles William Schott; his son Thomas Jacob Schott; his daughter Laura Kathryn Schott; his sister Valerie and husband Mike Weynand; sister-in-law Nancy and husband Howard Elton; niece Beth Weynand Quy, niece Erin Weynand Stephens; nephew Myles Weynand; nephew Joshua Elton; and grand-niece Elizabeth Wynne Stephens.

Visitation will be at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 8. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 9, at 10 am at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

The family Suggests that consideration be given to making donations in Jack's memory to Texas A&M University (www.giving.tamu.edu); DREAM Dachshund Rescue (P.O. Box 591819, Houston, TX 77259); or the charity of your choice.
