Daniel "Dan" Martin '83 October 1, 2013 3:58 PM

Obituary source unknown

Daniel Lee Martin

April 8, 1961---September 18, 2013

Dan died peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, after a sudden and short illness at Baylor Trinity
Medical Hospital in Dallas; with Arthur, Louis, Marcus and D'Anne at his bedside. Born April 8, 1961, in Brownwood, Texas, Dan was a 1983 Bachelors and 1985 Masters graduate of Texas A&M University and a long time employee of the USDA Market Administrators. Though severely crippled by arthritis as an infant, he never complained and never let it slow him down. He represented strength, courage, and independence. In addition to family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and his various dogs...at least one with a rather unique name, SHITTY, one of the great joys of his life was adventure travel, including rafting various wild stretches of rivers around the world. He loved sweets, donuts, and cold beer. Hidden from some, but right under the surface, was a dry wit that made him delightful company. Though small in stature, Dan was a man that, indeed, filled the boots he always wore. He is survived by his parents Sue and Arthur C. Martin of Lake Oswego, Oregon; brothers Louis (Cathy) of Rush, Colorado and Marcus (D'Anne) of College Station, Texas, nieces Kelsey and Allie, and many cousins......... . The family is grateful for the care the nurses, doctors and hospital gave Dan; for long time co-workers that he considered as family; and for his neighbors and friends who were always there for him, but never intruded.

A memorial service was held at Dan's place of employment Friday September 20, 2013 with his work family of over 28 years. Family will have a private celebration at a later Date.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to:
