John August Shellberg III
July 25, 1941 – July 19, 2013
John Shellberg, 71, of College Station, passed away Friday, July 19 at Arlington Memorial Hospital, Arlington, Texas. A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27 in the College Station Cemetery. Rev. Bazel Lister will officiate. Services
are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.
John was born to John August Shellberg Jr. and Venice Vandiver Shellberg in El Paso, Texas. He grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and Magnolia, Arkansas with his family. He retired from Texas A&M University in 2005. John was an avid fan of Aggie Sports especially
Aggie Football and anyone playing against the Texas Longhorns.
John really enjoyed entertaining for his family and friends as often as possible. He was a member of the A&M Century Club '69. John was a member of the Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Ursula Shellberg: his daughter, Mary Gertrude Shellberg; his parents; and his sister, Ann Crumpler.
Surviving John are his daughter Monique Shellberg; brothers-in-law, John Ed Crumpler, Ulf Meyer, Heinfried Meyer; his sisters-in-law, Margot Doenges, Elfie Meyer; his nieces and nephews, Cathy Chaney, Gary Chaney, Kendra Chaney, Kristen Chaney, Jeff Crumpler,
Linda Crumpler, Sarah Crumpler, Jackson Crumpler, John Wesley Crumpler, Robert Doenges, Inez Doenges, Ronja Doenges, Sophia Doenges, Eva Doenges, and Ralf Meyer; his uncle Robert C. Shellberg; cousins Robert Shellberg, Stephen Shellberg, Mary Anne Wrisley;
his close friends he considered his children, Sam Orange Jr., Nami Miyatani, Jessica Clement, Debra Archuleta, Maria Leonardi, and Angela Hall.
