E. LOUINE SMITH SMITH March 1, 1933 - June 8, 2011

Charles CLAYBOURNE Smith, age 86, passed away at home on June 8, 2013, after a long & lengthy illness. He was born in Eden, TX to parents Ewell and Estelle Smith on May 14, 1927. The family soon moved to San Antonio where Claybourne remained his entire life. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1945. He went into the US Navy immediately upon graduation and entered WWII before college. He graduated from Texas A&M College in 1950 with a BS in Ag Management, where he was a member of both A&M's Judging and Rodeo Teams. He went on to become a Champion Bull Rider before he chose a career in the auto industry. He was a General Sales Manager for the majority of his 40 years at Gillespie Ford. He was a member of both First Baptist Church downtown and Trinity Baptist Church. He was very active in many of SA's social & civic organizations:Masonic, JOT, Rotary and SALE. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor LOUINE Smith Smith of 55 years, who passed on June 8, 2011. Also preceded in death by a brother Allen Ray Smith and wife, Pat. He is survived by a daughter, Larissa Starr Smith Alexander and grandsons, Colin Claybourne Keith Alexander, 13 & Connor Keith Alexander, 10. Also survived by a sister Patsy Tarro and brother-in-law Sid Tarro. Nieces Robyn Darnell and husband Rick Darnell of Houston and Melissa Hensarling and husband Jeb Hensarling of Dallas, great niece & nephew Claire Hensarling and Travis Hensarling.
There will be a graveside service for the burial of both Claybourne & Louine together on Friday, June 21, 2013 @ 11:45am at Ft. Sam National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX. The fa,ily would like to thank the very special people at Evercare Hospice for their kind, professional care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice .
