Frank Henry "Bill" Hall
August 3, 1947 – March 25, 2013
Frank Henry Hall was born on August 3rd, 1947 to Weldon X and Frankie Cansler Hall in Bryan, Texas. His mother wanted to name him Frank after her but his father preferred William; so they named him Frank and called him Bill. So was born the enigma that was Bill Hall.
Bill graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1965, then attended Sam Houston State University and later Texas A&M University as a member of the Class of '69.
Bill was a collector; he never met a trinket, "heirloom" or "fix-up" project that he didn't like. He found sentimental value in many worthless items that belonged to old friends or family members, but in his own way, he upheld and cherished their memories thru these objects. Like his mother, he was always thinking of others, asking how someone was or offering help and assistance. Though at the same time, you might find him fighting the school board, city council or homeowner's association over injustices or things that didn't pass the common sense test. He was a true champion of the little guy and underdogs of life.
But perhaps the greatest description of Bill can be found in the chorus to the Conway Twitty song "That's My Job": "That's my job, that's what I do, everything I do is because of you to keep you safe with me, that's my job you see." He truly loved his family and he expressed his love thru thoughtful acts of service and time spent together; whether working on the car prior to a long vacation trip, rearranging the garage, sifting thru some of his collections in the back yard, or discussing how the day went at the dinner table. He was a friend to anyone in the neighborhood and could often be found chatting up the mailman, a couple walking their dogs, or an elderly woman down the street. His friendship, frankness and concern will be missed by all who knew him.
Bill left this world to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 25, 2013, at his home in Houston.
Bill was preceded in death by both of his parents and a half-brother, John Johnson.
His remaining relatives include his wife of 43 years, Josephine Ann Hall of Houston; sons, Zach and Michelle Hall and their son, Xander of Ft. Sill, OK., Mitch and his wife, Kellie Hall, and their daughter, Laurel of Lago Vista; daughter, Amanda Hall of Houston; and brother, James P. and his wife, Diane Hall, of Willis.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Home Place of Texas benefiting adult children with disabilities, www.hpot.org, 5701 Louetta Rd #400; Spring, Texas 77379. The family will conduct a small private ceremony.
