Joe David Platt, Sr., 63, of Montgomery and formerly of Navasota, went with the Lord on Saturday, August 21, 2010 in Conroe, Texas.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010, at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin, Texas.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Lake Limestone Baptist Church in Robertson County. Burial will follow in the Seale Round Prairie Cemetery in Robertson County.
Joe was born on November 8, 1946 in Seale Round Prairie to Charles Claude Platt and Nettie Lovell Sanders Platt. He was a 1965 graduate of Leon High School and graduated from Texas A&M in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture education.
He was employed with the Soil Conservation Service for 32 years as a District Technician. He had been a resident of Montgomery, Texas for the past year previously living in Navasota, Texas for 30 years. Joe was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Navasota.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Ronnie Lewis.
Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Alene and Donny Turner, of Montgomery, Texas; son, Joe David Platt, Jr., of Valley View, Texas; sister, Wanda F. Lewis, of Pasadena; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Nina Platt, of Seale; two grandchildren, Andrea Tailor Martinez and James M. "Buck" Turner II; nieces, Kristin Wenger and Ashley Stevens; nephews, Kevin Lewis and Jason Platt.
