Holiday On The Quad

Stephanie Cannon '06 December 3, 2014 11:37 AM

The Corps of Cadets will host “Holiday on the Quad”--a competition where each major unit decorates a sector of the Quad in their finest holiday décor – culminating in a “Holiday on the Quad” Festival on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. The Sunday evening event is also a fundraiser, donations will be accepted, in support for the March of Dimes efforts to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

The festival is open to the public and each major unit will have a table offering hot drinks, brownies, cookies and other sweets. There will be many photo opportunities for kids and families--Parsons Mounted Cavalry and Reveille will be there as well as several Santa and Holiday photo booths.

Paid parking is available in the South Side Parking Garage off Bizzell Street at Lewis Street at the southeast side of the Quad, and the University Center Parking Garage behind the Koldus Building at Throckmorton Street at Joe Routt Blvd.

The cadets will begin their decorating on Wednesday, Dec. 3 and lights will be lit right before the Sunday Festival. Members of the Commandant’s staff and Board Members of the March of Dimes will judge the decorations and the winners will be announced at the Festival. The lights will remain on display nightly from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. until Dec. 13.

Earlier in the day, the Aggie Band, Parsons Mounted Cavalry, the Ross Volunteers and the Corps Center Guard will be marching in the Bryan-College Station Christmas Parade at 2 p.m., so come on out after the parade and join the festivities at the “Holiday on the Quad” Festival!
