Lloyd "Ted" McBeth
December 20, 1929 - April 27, 2012

Lloyd Theodore "Ted" McBeth, born December 20, 1929 in Sweetwater, Texas to Lloyd and Mary McBeth passed away peacefully on April 27, 2012 after a brief illness. Left to cherish his wonderful memories: his loving wife Gloria; daughters: Patricia Chandler (Robert) and Mary McBeth; granddaughters: Michele Reed, and Jillian and Charlotte Pennington; great-grandson, Cameron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1951. He proudly served in the Korean War with the U.S. Army and then earned a Master's degree from Texas A&M in 1956. He met Gloria through relatives who knew of a lady in Houston they thought might be compatible. A long distance romance blossomed; the relatives were right.
Ted excelled in every endeavor. He rose to become vice-president of Cities Service, but more importantly, he was the head of a loving household. He taught by example and his lessons were intuitive. Always a pioneer, Ted was building computers in his study when desktops first arrived on the scene. His sharp mind was matched only by his keen wit. A worthy opponent at the bridge table would also find someone who kept the game alive with humor. As a humble man, Ted wouldn't like the accolades received here, which is another reason we're proud of him. He taught us honesty, integrity, and humility. We are all better for having had him in our lives.
A viewing will be held from 8:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Brookside Champions Funeral Home. The family will not be present for the duration, but guests are welcome to pay their respects to Ted in their absence. Memorial services will be Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Northwoods Presbyterian Church at 2:00 after burial at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Texas A&M Alumni Foundation, The association of Former Students, 505 George Bush Dr., College Station, TX, 77840 or the charity of your choice.
