Bridget O'Brien '88 March 9, 2011 1:11 PM

Taylor Bros. Funeral Home obituary

Bridget Louise O'Brien
(March 27, 1961 - January 11, 2011)

Bridget Louise O’Brien, of Houston, formerly of Van Vleck, was born March 27, 1961 and passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011.

Bridget is survived by her mother, Mrs. James E. O’Brien, Sr., siblings and their spouses: James Eagen and Guadalupe O’Brien, Jr.; Molly O’Brien Ganter and Garland Ganter; John and Stephanie O’Brien; and Matthew O’Brien. Bridget leaves behind cousins, an uncle, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James E. O’Brien, Sr., an aunt, an uncle, and grandparents. Notably, Bridget will be leaving behind many friends that she made throughout her life.

Bridget, who had a heart of gold, was a devoted friend to all and if you met her you knew this. She was strong, caring, independent, lighthearted, and generous. She grew up in Houston and spent weekends on Caney Creek and Sargent Beach, as a child. Eventually the family moved to Sargent where she went to school in Van Vleck, graduating in 1979. Bridget then graduated from Texas A&M University and to this day wears her Aggie ring proudly. Bridget began a successful career in business, starting with O’Brien Incorporated and ending with Halliburton.

Bridget mostly enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She had a great love for exploring and being in new places. If you couldn’t find her, she was usually in her car somewhere in the state of Texas, looking for wildflowers, bargain shopping, visiting a friend, or making her way to the Frio River. She also had a special love for animals and was never without her beloved pets. Bridget will be missed forever and a day.

There will be a Rosary at 7:00 PM Monday, January 17, 2011 with Visitation starting at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City. A Requiem Mass and Funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City. Pallbearers will be Colleen O’Brien, Nicholas O’Brien, Connor O’Brien, Blaine Ganter, Lauren Ganter, and James Mashburn. Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
