Frank M. Foster, age 79 of Kerrville, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010, at his residence.

Born April 16, 1931, at home in Humble Oil & Refining's Bruner Oil Field at Luling, Texas, to John L. Foster, Sr., and Ferrie Griffin Foster.

Predeceased by his parents, son Craig F. Foster, brother John L. Foster, Jr., and sisters Juanita Foster Dyer and Jacqueline Foster Weston.

Survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Elon Brickley Foster; daughters Dayna Foster DeLaVergne, Kerrville, Texas; Paula Foster, Kerrville, Texas; and Leesa Foster of Houston, Texas; granddaughters Melissa DeLaVergne Wright and husband Truman of Willis, Texas, and Jennifer Garrett Hancock and husband Keith of Liberty Hill, Texas; grandson Brian A. McGrath and wife Elizabeth of McKinney, Texas; great-grandson Garrett Hancock; and great grand-daughters Avery Noel McGrath and Madeline Kay McGrath.

Attended Flour Bluff Schools, Corpus Christi, Texas. Graduate of A&M College of Texas, Class of 1953. Member Texas A&M Former Students Association and Texas A&M Foundation Legacy Society. Veteran, 1st Lt. U. S. Army Artillery 1951-1956. Served with 597th Field Artillery Bn., Hanau, Germany, and the 90th Infantry Division reserves, College Station.

Practiced profession as Petroleum Engineer for 50 years in Texas and Louisiana. Consulting Engineer in Houston for more than 30 years.

Volunteer in surgery and birthing center, Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Houston from 2001-2009. This he considered his second career, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

One of his proudest accomplishments was the establishment and shepherding of the Craig F. Foster 78 Memorial Fund with the Texas A&M Foundation. Thanks to the generosity of many friends and business associates, the fund has grown over 35 years to currently furnish four scholarships a year and support Parsons Mounted Cavalry at Texas A&M. The success of this fund prompted him to encourage his aunt, Gladys Griffin, to endow two Chemical Engineering Scholarships, a Corps of Cadets Scholarship, and an endowment for Texas A&M Memorial Student Center activities.

Graveside services will be held in Kerrville, Texas, on Monday, October 25, 2010, 1 p.m. at Garden of Memories Cemetery officiated by Rev. Mark D. Roberts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peterson Hospice.
