While many college students spend their spring break soaking up the sun and relaxing, the members of Aggie Habitat for Humanity take a different approach to the holiday with the annual Collegiate Challenge service trip. For their 2009 trip, 30 students
traveled to Bay St. Louis, Miss., thanks to assistance with transportation expenses from The Association of Former Students. “Because of the help from The Association, we were able to spend time in Bay St. Louis rebuilding a house in a neighborhood still
suffering from Hurricane Katrina,” said the club’s president, Travis Warren ’11. By the end of the week, the house was nearly complete, with only decorative touches left for the family to complete, Warren said.
“The most powerful part of the week was visiting the ribbon-cutting ceremony,” he said. “Getting to meet the family on such an important day of their lives was incredibly meaningful.”
