Thomas Ball Jr.(1929 - 2010)
Thomas Wyatt Ball, Jr. died Monday, July 26, 2010 with his wife by his side at his home in Washington,
LA.
Tom was born September 25, 1929 in Binjin, Arkansas to Thomas Wyatt Ball, Sr. and Bessie Cox Ball. Tom's parents and his brother, Jimmie Rex Ball proceeded him in death.
Tom is survived by his wife of 23 years, Susan Wright Ball; his daughter, Elizabeth Ball Perdue and husband Wayne; his sons, Thomas Wyatt Ball, III and wife Benita; Randy Ball and wife Celia; and grandchildren, Adam and Alex Perdue, Seth McDonald, and Kaila, Simon and Leticia Ball.
Tom is a graduate (Class of 52) of Texas A&M University from which he earned a degree in petroleum engineering. He worked for over 50 years in the oil and gas industry in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Canada. He was a member of the American Petroleum Association.
He loved his work, but his greatest passion was horses-breeding and racing. He began his career as a horseman in Oklahoma, breeding and racing quarter horses. His memory will live on with the champion
thoroughbreds he bred, raised and raced here in Louisiana with his wife Sue. He was a member of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association and a former Board member of the Horseman's Benevolence Protection Association. He was on the Board of Directors for the Chaplaincy of America and the Evangeline Downs Chaplaincy.
A celebration of Tom's life will take place on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Evangeline Downs Chaplaincy-Reap Building, Opelousas, LA. Chaplain Les Riggs will officiate at a memorial service at the chaplaincy at 3:00. The family will receive friends at the chaplaincy from 1:00 until 3:00.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to Evangeline Downs Chaplaincy, Opelousas, LA.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
