PALESTINE, TX. —Robert Edward Boening, 68, of Palestine, Texas, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, April 24, 2012 at home surrounded by family. He was born on August 27th, 1943, in Galveston, Texas the son of Rudolph F Sr. and Catherine E Boening. He was the youngest of 5 siblings (Cathy Slade, Dorothy Farmer, Beth Boening-Cos and Rudolph F. Boening Jr.) On January 28th 1967 he married his best friend, Glenda Gale Matlock. He graduated Kirwin High School, Galveston, Texas, 1961. Graduated Texas A&M University BS ChE. Persued MS ChE through Texas A&M extension in Galveston, Texas. He was employed by AMOCO Oil (now BP). He had numerous assignments, both technical, supervisory and managerial at multiple locations including Chicago General Office, Sugar Creek, MO refinery, and Texas City, Texas refinery. He holds 5 U.S. and foreign patents in the petrochemical industry. He retired from AMOCO Texas City refinery in 2000 after 34 years. He retired as Manager Refinery Capital Projects Division.“Take what you have been given, make it better, and pass it on, for it’s not all about me.”He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Glenda Gale of Palestine, Texas; his son Chris Boening of McKinney, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Scott Chancellor, of McKinney Texas; son and daughter-in-law Trey and Kara Boening of Humble, Texas; grandson Mitchell Aubrey Boening of Humble, Texas; sister, Beth Boening of Houston, Texas; sister –in-law Vicki Matlock of Conroe, Texas and mother-in-law Juanita Matlock of Palestine, Texas. Graveside services at Isabelle Chapel Cemetery, at 1:00 PM on Saturday April 28th, 2012 by the Reverend Matt Pitts of First Baptist Church Minden. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital, Hospice of East Texas or your favorite charity.
