Stan J. Hruska ’62, graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Civil Engineering and a year later received his Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering. After working for 41 years, Stan is now retired from Brown and Root, Inc., and continues to do work as a consultant.
I believe in Texas A&M and the direction it is taking. My education from A&M made it possible for me to succeed in my career as a Civil Engineer. The leadership training I received while in the Corps put me ahead of my peers. Being an Aggie has brought me a network of Aggie classmates and friends that have been loyal and caring. A&M is a great university and I am pleased to give back a little. I AM PROUD TO BE AN AGGIE!

William “Bill” Huber received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas A&M and later attended the Naval Reserve Midshipman School at the University of Notre Dame. Huber served as a gunnery officer on the USS Iowa where he and his fellow sailors escorted President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was a co-founder of Huber & Scott Insurance Agency in 1951, which enjoyed 51 years of success before dissolving in 2002.

Huff is President of Huff Lobbying Company and has been President of Capital Surety Bond Underwriters Agency since 1983. He has served as Executive Director of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association and worked for the Texas Farm Bureau Legislative Office and the Texas Agricultural Extension Service. He is a founding member of the Texas Academy of Veterinary Practice. He has served as a Class Agent and created a Sul Ross Scholarship in memory of his son, Jim Bob Huff ’79.
Homer Hunter was a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, and New Mexico. He organized Hunter Associates, consulting engineers in 1948 and headed the firm until 1977. Hunter served as President of Texas A&M’s Sul Ross Group and the Texas Aggie Band Association, Northwest Texas Vice President of The Association of Former Students, Co-Class Agent of the Class of ’25, and until his retirement in 1983, he was active in numerous professional organizations.

R.F. “Fred” Hunter graduated from the A&M College of Texas in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Business Administration. Following graduation he attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology allowing him to obtain a Master of Science degree in Industrial Management. In 1974 Fred completed his academic career at the Southern Methodist University School of Law. Through the knowledge that he obtained, he was able to have an outstanding career as the President and General Counsel at MiTek Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri and London, England to being an attorney-at-law in his private practice at Dallas, Texas. Fred exemplifies the characteristics of a true Aggie as he has given back to the University that has allowed him to make such an impact.
Joseph Hurff had a lifetime career in communications and electronics with the military and private defense contractors. He served as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force and supervised electronics and radar development on F-111 Fighter and B-58 for Raytheon Co. and was a project manager on the guidance system for Minuteman Missile for Sylvania Company.

John is Senior Vice President and on the board of Unocal Corporation. In 27 years with Unocal, he has served in engineering and management positions in Alaska, Great Britain and the Netherlands. Prior to his present appointment, he was President of Unocal International Oil & Gas Division. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy for three years.

Colonel Jim Ivey ’73 received a bachelor’s in building construction from Texas A&M University in 1973. Jim later received his MBA in finance from the University of Houston in 1978, and in 1981 graduated from the United States Army Command and General Staff College. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at Duke University in 2001. Upon graduation from Texas A&M University, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve. From 1974 to 2004, Jim served in a variety of Reserve units and roles, including command of the 4013th USAG, HQ, 3rd Brigade of the 95th Division and G8 of the 90th RSC. Jim’s military awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal and the DeFluery Medal for distinguished service to the Corps of Engineers.In his civilian career, Jim has served in a variety of executive positions with several energy companies, including Arkla, Tenneco, Williams and MarkWest. Currently he is the president and chief executive officer of Milagro Exploration in Houston. Jim is also a current board member of MachGen, NEGT, Milagro Exploration, Tulsa Boys Home and the Ole Miss College of Engineering Advisory Board. In addition to these responsibilities, he is also a founding sponsor of the National Museum of the U.S. Army, as well as a member of Army Historical Foundation, Reserve Officers Association, Association of the U.S. Army, Independent Producers Association of America, and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Jim has three children, Adriane Jaynes ’02, Michael Ivey ’04, and Brian Ivey. Jim and his wife, Vasser Bailey, live in Houston.

Mermod Jaccard, Jr. was a partner and principal in CTJ & D, Architects. He returned to Texas A&M to earn his Bachelor of Architecture degree after earlier attending A&M and the University of Houston. Jaccard completed the Armor Officer Advanced Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and the Officer Course at Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Charles L. Jackson graduated from the A&M College of Texas in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in modern languages. From 1961 to 1987, he served in the U.S. Air Force in Texas, Arizona, Vietnam, Virginia, Germany, Nebraska, Greece and Turkey. Among his decorations are the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Commendation Medal. After the service, he was a travel market analyst until he retired.
“I would not trade my Aggie Ring and diploma for a Ph.D. from any other university in the world,” Jackson says. It is important to him and his wife to show their appreciation for what Texas A&M means to them by helping other young Aggies who need financial support.
J.R. Jackson earned a B.S. degree in geology from Texas A&M and an M.S. in geology from the University of Texas. Jackson was employed for almost 40 years by Standard Oil Co. of Venezuela, Humble Oil and Exxon on numerous exploration, technical, professional and managerial assignments. He has served as President of Norjac Enterprises and on A&M’s Geosciences and Earth Advisory Council.

Arch Jacobson served as the President of the Jacobson-Berger Capital Group, Inc. Previously, he was the Chairman of the Union Pacific Realty Company and President of Prudential Development Company and Mercantile Realty Services Company. Jacobson also served in the U.S. and Africa as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and earned an Advance Management Certificate from Princeton University.

Following his brother, Arch ’49, Harold Jacobson graduated from Texas A&M in 1956 with a degree in chemistry and was commissioned as second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 1957. While serving in the Air Force, Jacobson spent a year at Thule Air Base in Greenland, about 650 miles south of the North Pole. It was his first trip north of Dallas. Jacobson went to work for Shell Chemical Co. prior to entering the service in 1956 and returned to Shell in 1960. While working for Shell, Jacobson worked in Texas, Manhattan, and New Jersey until his retirement in 1995. Jacobson has served as a Director of the Shell Alumni Association and maintained his interest in aviation. He pursued pilot training in general aviation and became a single-engine, multi-engine and instrument instructor pilot, teaching flying as a weekend activity.
Harold Jacobson and his wife, Rose, live in Houston, and their children, Laura ’81, Gregg ’83 and Amy ’92, attended Texas A&M. They believe it is their obligation to give back to A&M and to other charitable organizations to help make the world a better place. Jacobson says A&M provided him with an everlasting pool of contacts, friendships, and preparation for life.

Joseph graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Geological Engineering. He began to work for Humble Oil & Refining Company for Houston, West Texas, & New Mexico. Joseph then served as President of Natural Resources Engineering, Inc. before taking on his current role as President of Tierra Exploration, Inc. Joseph credits the individuals that gave him the aid needed to develop into the person that he is today and would like to give fellow Aggies the chance to do the same.

Jon Jarvis ’68 graduated from Texas A&M in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in Ag Economics and with a Bachelor of Science in sociology in 1969. He received his commission at A&M and served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972. Johnette ’70 graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting in 1970. She and Jon have owned and operated farming and ranching interests in the Texas panhandle since 1972. They were selected as Aggie Parents of the Year in 1999. Johnette and Jon reside in Stinnett, Texas. They have two children, Shanna Jarvis ’98 and Scott Jarvis ’00.

John E. Jennings graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1951. After graduation he joined the United States Army and served until 1953, that included a 13 month tour in Korea in which he received a bronze star. In 1951 John joined Phillips Petroleum and worked there until his retirement in 1986. During his career he worked overseas in Venezuela, Singapore, and Norway. John currently resides in Richmond, Texas and has three children, Ronald, Cynthia, and John 1984.
