The Traveling Aggies are pleased to offer Costa Rica.

March 8 - 15, 2013

: From: $3,100 per person

Begin your Costa Rican adventure with a walking tour through colonial San José that includes the historic Teatro Nacional and the Museo del Oro, before a welcome dinner. Head west through villages, sugar cane fields and plantations to the Guacalillo Estuary, where a guided cruise through mangrove forests will introduce you to an array of colorful birdlife and, at the mouth of the Tárcoles River, possibly osprey, crocodiles, iguanas and other wildlife. After a typical Costa Rican lunch, with marimba accompaniment, cross the Gulf of Nicoya to your ocean-side resort.

Zip lining through the rainforest canopy is the highlight of the next day, followed by time to spend as you wish on the beach or at your resort. Then join us for a cocktail reception, dinner and entertainment on the beach. The calm waters of the Curu Refuge are yours for kayaking the following day; with a guide, you’ll find an abundance of wildlife to explore.

En route to Turrialba, fly back to San José, making a stop at the Basilica de Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles in Cartago before a hike on the lunar landscapes of Irazú Volcano high above the clouds and home to panoramic views. Continue to a three-night retreat, at a resort with the feel of a gracious colonial plantation.

Saddle up for a trail ride through a 200-acre hacienda, offering views of Angostura Lake, Turrialba and Irazú Volcano; visit to a wildlife rehabilitation center. Learn about the operational requirements of a working ranch growing sugar cane, coffee and macadamia nut crops. Spend time swimming, exploring or relaxing.

Narrow jungle gorges, waterfalls and lush vegetation provide the next thrill – not to mention the action provided on a 3-hour whitewater rafting adventure on the Pacuare River. Spend an afternoon as you wish before farewell festivities at a nearby hacienda.
