Margaret Ann Woelke Hankins 

December 1, 1944 - May 1, 2025 

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Margaret Ann Woelke Hankins, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Born in Jourdanton, Texas, December 1, 1944, she passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025 at the age of 80.

Daughter of Ella and John Woelke, Margaret was raised in Jourdanton. She attended TLC, graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree, and went on to complete her Master's Degree at Texas A&M University. While in College Station, she worked with the Texas Forest Service and was often seen with Smokey the Bear teaching others how to prevent wild fires.

In 1981, Margaret married the love of her life, David E. Hankins, in Bryan, Texas. Their 36-year marriage was one of deep love and devotion. Their time together began in Oklahoma where they enjoyed the great outdoors. They later returned to Texas where she began teaching Science and Math at Gary High School until her retirement in 2004. After retirement she and Dave moved to Georgetown, Texas where she enjoyed gardening, bird watching, rooting for her Aggies, and playing Bunco with friends. Most of her time and devotion was spent loving her grandchildren. She was there to support them at numerous concerts, livestock shows, sporting events and award ceremonies.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Ella and John Woelke, her husband, David E.Hankins, brother-n-law, Harvey Koerner and sisters-n-law, Cindy Woelke and granddaughter Kayla Ann Compton.

She is survived by daughters Annette (Kyle) Compton, Jennifer (Chris) Mostyn, step children, John (Shannon) Hankins and Jill Hankins; grandchildren, Amber, Afton, Tucker, Bryndal, Brody and Erin; siblings, Jo Ella Koerner, Vernon Woelke, Allen (Nancy) Woelke and Lynn (Kevin) O'Farrell as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

A memorial service celebrating Margaret's life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Ramsey's Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Dr. Georgetown, TX 78633.
