Roll Call Tribute

Kathy Hawkins '77 April 29, 2025 10:32 AM updated: April 29, 2025 10:36 AM

Kathy Sue Hawkins

September 19, 1955 - June 15, 2022

Kathy entered this world one day after her oldest brother, Dan, celebrated his 10th birthday. Both Dan and his younger brother, Jerry, anticipated and were excited for the arrival of a new sister, completing their family of five.

Kathy, a Texas A&M University graduate, began her career working for USAA insurance. She finished her career following her true passion in the criminal justice field working for Bexar County as an adult probation officer. She was well-versed in law and worked closely with judges, Bert Richardson and Sarah Garrahan.

Kathy loved animals and cherished her three nieces. She showered them with love and attention. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie, her mother, Thelma, as well as numerous other relatives. Memories of time spent with her will be held dear by her brothers Dan Hawkins (Lisa), and Jerry Hawkins (Cindy); her nieces Chelsea Bussey (Zack), Jessica Rodriguez (Joey), and Catherine/Kate Hawkins (Robert Spielman). Her grandniece Kendall (Bussey), and grandnephew Josiah (Rodriguez) never had the opportunity to meet her, but surely, she's watching over them now. The family will hold a private burial on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

We are grateful for the compassionate care and service that the VITAS Hospice staff provided, and the caring staff at The Haven in Stone Oak. We are hopeful that great strides will come in the near future towards curing Alzheimers Disease.
