Lisa Jane (Reedy) Beattie

November 8, 1958 - January 1, 2025

On January 1, 2025, Lisa Jane (Reedy) Beattie died peacefully at home after a nine-year journey with cancer.

She was born on November 8, 1958, in Corpus Christi, Texas to father Dudley “Harold” Reedy and mother Dorothy “Dot” (Northington) Reedy. Her sisters were Gail, Leigh, Linda, and Lara. She spent most of her young life living in Dallas, Texas where she achieved high academic success and developed an enduring love of nature while working at a local commercial greenhouse growing many varieties of flowers.

She continued her love of learning at Texas A&M University, where she studied political science. During her junior year at A&M, she met her husband William “Bill” Beattie, and they were married on May 9, 1981. Before marriage, she made a profound conversion to the Catholic faith, which provided her a guiding light throughout the many stages of her life. Lisa and Bill were blessed with three children, Billy, Holly, and Danny, and settled into a fulfilling family life in Humble, Texas. She was always the unwavering support for her children and their many pursuits, while also handling every facet of a household during her husband’s extensive global work travel obligations.

Her deeply held Catholic faith inspired her to live a life of Christian service. She attended and volunteered for many years at her local Catholic churches in the Humble-Kingwood, Texas area, and found a wonderful community of friends and support (St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, St. Martha Catholic Church, and St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church). She especially loved teaching Continuing Christian Education (CCE) to younger children, assisting in the Church daycare, and being a eucharistic adoration volunteer.

Aside from her faith life, Lisa had a wide array of passions. A veracious reader from an early age, she collected an extensive library of books and shared her knowledge to everyone around her. She loved to be in nature and spent many fun trips exploring Texas state parks with friends and family. An avid gardener, she shared the importance of understanding and respecting the processes of the natural world. Lisa was passionate about experiencing different cultures, and was able to travel to many countries around the world. Some of her most significant travels included life changing religious pilgrimages in Eastern Europe and Mexico.

One of her greatest joys in life was to be able to love, teach, and cherish her grandson, Blake Beattie. Her special relationship with him gave her so much happiness every day.

During this most difficult time with cancer, Lisa never wavered in her pursuit of healing. She found innovative and alternative therapies for her condition, vastly surpassing the initial prognosis provided by traditional medical professionals. She stayed positive throughout all of the many trials she faced, and had a strong support system from her immediate family, especially her daughter and primary caregiver, Holly.

She is survived by her husband, Bill, son Billy, daughter-in-law, Ashley, grandson, Blake, daughter, Holly, and son, Danny.

Lisa lived her life with love, kindness, and faith. She was the best mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was an inspiration, and will be deeply missed.

The date for a funeral mass to celebrate her life will be provided at a later time.
