Gale Annette (Miller) Meador
December 20, 1960 - September 6, 2024
Dr. Gale Annette Meador has found peace, and we will miss her.
Gale was born December 20, 1960 in Tampa Florida as the youngest of four daughters to Curtis and Doris Lewis. When Gale was in the first grade, the family moved to Roane, Texas, to the State she would call home for the remainder of her days.
A natural Texan, Gale soon discovered her love for riding horses, the natural world around her and the fine folks of the Lone Star State, making life-long friends from practically the moment she arrived. When it came time to attend Corsicana High School, she met and was sweet on a nice boy named Gregory Meador.
In time, her quest for knowledge took her first to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, and Texas A&M University in College Station, where she earned her PHD in Psychology.
After settling in College Station, she reconnected with her old sweetheart Greg, the man who always had been the love of her life. The happy couple married February of 2006, and eventually made their way back to Corsicana, where they constructed a love which we could all envy.
They made a beautiful home together, adopted more dogs than was probably logical and traveled the world. They saw the beaches of Normandy and art galleries across Europe. They stared at the mountains together in Alaska and sat on Caribbean beaches watching the waves. Through it all, though, they were just as happy spending a night curled up on the couch together smothered in dogs watching a show in each other's company.
Gale cared for others. She delighted in volunteer work and kept with her lifelong respect for those in need. At her best, she was brilliant, witty, empathetic and kind as any one of us could hope to be ourselves. In her absence, her family and friends will seek to treat our fellow humans in a manner she'd aspired to herself.
She's gone too soon, and in losing her, perhaps those of us still here can be reminded to make the most of what time we have remaining. Take stock of what you have and appreciate it. Laugh at something silly. Love others more than yourself. She'd have liked that.
Gale was preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Doris Wheeler Lewis and sisters, Nancy Diane Mason and Karen Raley. She is survived by her wonderful husband, Greg, her loving sister Connie and her children, extended family and friends.
