James Clifford "Jim" Lewis

James "Jim" Clifford Lewis, age 78, of Tomball, Texas passed away December 23, 2024. Jim was born August 6, 1946 in Houston, Texas to James Hubert Lewis and Jean Carolyn Ricks Lewis.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 32 years, Sandra Lee Cole, and his second wife of 22 years, Kathryn Conlee.
Jim is survived by a sister, Carolyn Espinoza of Missouri City, TX, daughter, Samantha McAvoy of Burleson, TX, and a son, Matthew Lewis of Tomball, TX; one grandson Dillon McAvoy and two granddaughters Natalie Lewis and Elizabeth Lewis.
Jim was a proud member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 1968. He graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Civil Engineering. While at A&M, he was a member of the Corps of Cadets Squadron 10. Jim held a Professional Engineer License in the State of Texas.
Jim's career started at Southern Pacific Railroad where he worked for five years. He then worked for BP for 25 years with stints in Houston and Alaska. While in Alaska, Jim patented a device to clean up deleterious liquids and solids polluting ice. After leaving BP, Jim was self employed offering engineering services in the Houston area.
Jim loved hunting and fishing. He became passionate about hunting for gold while in Alaska. He negotiated a working arrangement with the Chief of the Athabascan Indian Tribe to hunt for gold on the Tribal lands in the Tanana Valley of Alaska. Jim filed 25 claims on behalf of the Tribe. He located and filed claims for two Platinum Gold Mine Claims for himself.
Jim was a Christian, being an active member of churches where he lived. Most recently, he was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Tomball since 2012. He was an active member with the Bible Study Fellowship.
A service for Jim was held at Salem Lutheran Church. He would like his ashes spread in the Hatcher Pass in Alaska.
