Mary Kathleen "Katie" (Clifton) Wilson
June 14, 1972 - December 23, 2024
Mary Kathleen "Katie" Wilson, age 52, devoted wife, mother, daughter, niece, sister, aunt, friend and a resident of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 23, 2024, in her home in Fort Worth, Texas, after a fierce battle with endometrial cancer. Katie lived her life in such a way that she will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Anyone who knew Katie would describe her as a strong, giving, independent adventurer who loved fiercely and was quick to serve anyone in need. Born June 14, 1972, in Pullman, Washington, to Steve and JoEllen Clifton, Katie was raised in Houston, Texas. Growing up, Katie played soccer and participated in dance. Her favorite memories were camping and floating the Guadalupe River with her family, spending summers with her grandparents, aunts, and uncles, and committing shenanigans with her sister, Dede Boaz, and brother, Chris Clifton.
Katie attended Texas A&M University, where she established lifelong friends and was a member of Aggies for Christ. This was perfect for Katie as it allowed her to serve and spread love to others locally and on mission trips. Following graduation from College, Katie began her career in technology. Serving clients nationwide and leading global teams excited her and tapped into her desire to seek new adventures. Katie's passion for God, life, and adventure led her to travel extensively, including medical missionary work in Haiti and Thailand, diving with Great White Sharks in Africa, and riding elephants in Thailand. Katie was a fantastic baker and connoisseur of wine. True to her nature as a goal setter and goal achiever, Katie became a level II Sommelier before her diagnosis with cancer.
Throughout her life, Katie continued to serve in the communities where she lived. Her more rewarding opportunities were her work with the Junior League in Fort Worth and the Fort Worth A&M Club, where she helped organize events to raise money for local students who wanted to attend her beloved Texas A&M.
In 2015, Katie met her husband, Michael Wilson. The following year, they were married, and Katie set out on her most challenging adventure. Never having been married, Katie immediately added a husband and three children: David, Trent, and Briley. Katie responded as she always had, loving fiercely and devoting all of her being to the children and her husband.
Katie is survived by her husband, Michael; children, David, Trent, and Briley; parents, Steve and JoEllen; sister, Dede; brother, Chris; nieces, Kelly Clifton and Faith Boaz; nephews, Andrew and Paul Boaz; and many extended family and friends whom she loved dearly and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Vintage Rail at 2808 Stanley Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76110, on January 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
If you are able and choose to do so, instead of flowers, a scholarship has been established in Katie's memory. It is titled the Katie Wilson '94 Endowed Memorial Scholarship and will assist Tarrant County students exhibiting financial need in attending her beloved Texas A&M University.
