Roy Louis Holcomb

December 4, 1954 - October 13, 2023

Roy Louis Holcomb was born in Houston, Texas, on December 4, 1954. He passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, October 13, 2023, in McKinney, Texas.

A loving husband, son, father, and grandpa/pa pa, Roy was raised in Houston and graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1973; he enjoyed helping to run the reunions throughout the years. He then attended Blinn College in Bryan, Texas, where he was a cheerleader and a member of the Jolly Rogers before transferring to Texas A&M University. He was a proud member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 1977. He was extremely proud of his Aggie heritage as his father was class of 1952 and his children are classes of 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2008. Roy was Chief Appraiser for the Lee County Appraisal District for 16 years. He then spent 22 years working in appraisal software with True Automation/Harris Govern. He loved his work, his colleagues, and the many clients all over the state and country.

Roy was preceded in death by his father, Joe Wade Holcomb; sister, Donna (Holcomb) Warren; cousin, Bruce Bonderer; and uncle, Stephen F. Freeman.

Roy is survived by his loving wife, Deborah (Smith) Holcomb; his mother, Shirley (Maples) Holcomb; his children, April Holcomb, Autumn Holcomb and partner Brian Medford, Joe Wade Holcomb, Elizabeth Ardis and husband Mike, Chase Jones and wife Chelsea; his grandchildren, Ian Holcomb, Catherine and Reed Ardis, Maddy Jones; his cousin, Debbie Suire and husband Danny; his brother-in-law, Lon Warren; his nieces and nephews, Mona Eder and husband Joseph, Tina Kyle, Kurt Bonderer and husband Jonathan, Jimmy Kyle; and numerous family and friends. Many thanks to those who stood by him at the end, especially Steve Ahrens, Gabe and Heather Burge, Mike Gerhold, Brian Lipka, Larry Reeves, Randy Sprouse, and Wayne Strickland.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11:00 am at Blue Ridge Cemetery at the corner of N Business Hwy 78 and FM 981 in Blue Ridge, Texas. As Roy was always the life of the party, a celebration of life will be held after the graveside service at his beloved Chicken Snake Ranch barn, please BYOB and chairs, at 6007 State Hwy 78 N, Farmersville, TX 75442. We encourage you to dress for the weather and, as Roy enjoyed the country, feel free to dress for the occasion in your western attire.
