James (Jimmy) Ernest Jones at the age of 89, went to celebrate with Jesus on August 18, 2023.

Jimmy was born to Orby and Beulah Jones in Beaumont Texas on December 13, 1933. As a young boy, he spent his days hunting, fishing, and camping with friends in the woods along Sandy Creek. Jimmy enjoyed playing sports while in school in Jasper, Texas.

Jimmy started dating the love of his life, Jeri Due in 7th grade. They married on August 7, 1952, and had recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. They had four daughters: Janna, Tammy, Leslie, and Shelley.

Jimmy graduated from Texas A&M University, Class of '56. He had enjoyed playing football for the Aggies and he never ceased to be a Fightin Texas Aggie!

After graduation, he served in the Army and attended Missile School in El Paso, Texas.

Jimmy was an avid pilot, duck hunter, and fisherman. Over the past 35 years, he enjoyed time on the ranch. His cattle, wheat, hay, pecans, and wildlife gave him great pleasure.

Throughout his entire life, Jimmy was dedicated to serving Christ. For over 50 years, he taught Sunday school and led many Bible studies. Jimmy was a Christian example at work and in the community. He was active with the Gideons International distributing Bibles and served as a deacon for San Saba's First Baptist Church. Jimmy taught, encouraged, and led individuals to a closer relationship with Christ.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Jeri, his daughters, Janna McManus and husband Lloyd, Tammy Nichols and husband Greg, Leslie Hartz and husband Doug, Shelley Jones, and Fiancé David Handorf. Also 9 grandchildren: Rachel Curtner, Whitt Hartz, Troy Nichols, Brice Nichols, Seth Price, Sarah Wojhan, Kelsey McManus, Kirstin McManus, and Keegan McManus. 13 Great-Grandchildren and his brother Mike Jones.
