September 8, 1940 - September 26, 2023 

Ronald Lee Durbon, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on September 8, 1940, in Marfa, Texas, to parents, Sarah Bourgeois and Fred E. Durbon. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. Ronnie was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church and served as usher during Sunday morning services.

He was a 1962 graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Biology on a full athletic scholarship. He then attended Our Lady of The Lake University receiving a Masters in Mid-Management Administration in 1990. Ronnie went on to receive his Superintendent’s Certificate in 1997 from Texas A&M Kingsville.

Ronnie was a dedicated and devoted educator for 42 years, 40 of those years serving SSAISD. Starting his work experience as a teacher/coach, advancing to Athletic Director, concluding his career as Superintendent.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Byron Durbon, sister Yvonne Swiedom.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara, Sons, Gregory (Gayle), Gary (Gloria), granddaughter, Haley Durbon and grandson, Hunter Durbon. Step-grandsons Alex Esparza and Zaine Davis as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Porter Loring Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
