Maricela Perez "Mari" Gonzales 

September 22, 1974 - August 2, 2023 

Dr. Maricela Perez Gonzales PhD, 48, of Uvalde passed away on August 2, 2023. She was born to parents Alejandro Perez and Diana Perez, on September 22, 1974, in Laredo, Texas.

Maricela married Abraham Gonzales, in La Pryor, Texas on July 11, 1998.

She is survived by her husband, Abraham Gonzales of 25 years; daughter, Nadia Gonzales; son, Cruz Diego Gonzales; son, Abraham Javier Gonzales; daughter, Vianey Gonzales; father, Alejandro Perez; mother, Diana Perez; brother, Rafael Perez; and brother, Alejandro Perez.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Paul Perez Gonzales; maternal grandparents, Ruben and Alicia Martinez; and paternal grandparents Benito and Soila Perez.

After graduating from La Pryor High School in 1992, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in 1996 from the University of Texas. In 2004, Maricela graduated from Texas A&M University with a Doctorate of Psychology.

Maricela spent her career working as an educator and clinical psychologist with a successful private practice in Uvalde, Texas. She had a passion for helping and caring for others.

Maricela’s faith kept her strong throughout her entire life. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed going to Disney World with her family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, and Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 1 P.M. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

Prayer services will be held on Saturday August 5, 2023, and Sunday August 6, 2023, at 7 pm.

The funeral service will be held on August 7, 2023, at 10 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Internment to follow at the La Pryor Cemetery.
