January 16, 1957 - August 10, 2023

Ernest Edward Lashua, Jr., Navy veteran and longtime resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away August 10, 2023 after a brief and unexpected illness.

Ernie, as he was known to many, was born January 16, 1957 to Ernest and Barbara (Ulrich) Lashua, Sr. He attended Oak Harbor High School before enrolling in Texas A&M University-College Station, and becoming a member of the prestigious A&M Corps of Cadets.

Upon leaving college, Ernie enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was quickly picked up for the Flight Limited Duty Officer program. He rose to the rank of Commander, and had a distinguished Naval career accented with numerous honors, awards, and accolades. Following his retirement from the Navy in 2008, Ernie continued his service to the military as the Deputy Director of Aviation Training for Naval Air Station Corpus Christi.

He was a man of many talents and hobbies. Most notably he was a superior fisherman, and a skilled wood-worker and craftsman. In recent years he worked to conquer the casinos and slay the slots.

His devotion to the military came second only to his devotion to family. Ernie is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his brother Randy (Lori) Lashua, and sister Debra Green. He is survived by his former spouse, Billie, and their 4 daughters: Kellie Addison, Jamie (Ray) Westmoreland, Julie (Derek) Palmer, and Shelbie (Martin) Ledesma. Grandpa Lashua will be remembered fondly by his grandchildren: Clay and Tyler Addison, James and Maya Maldonado, Rylan, Rhys and Stevie Palmer, Lilybeth Ledesma, and bonus-grandchildren Kadance and Lane Westmoreland.

Fly high, Dad, we’ll take care of things on the ground.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at 10am on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a memorial service to follow at 11am.
