Orvil Lester Grunden 
May 21, 1935 - August 16, 2023 

Orvil Grunden passed away on Wednesday, August 16th, at home in Klein, Tx at age 88. Orvil was born May 21, 1935, in DeRidder, LA. Following his high school graduation, he was drafted and served in the Army from 1958 to 1960. Returning from Korea, he married Nelda Henderson on September 16, 1960, and they began their 62 years together in Waco, Texas.

Upon his final discharge from the service, Orvil enrolled to obtain his Mechanical Engineering degree and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1970. He was employed by Texas Utilities for a combined 19 years working in Fairfield, Tx, Rockdale, Tx, and Henderson, Tx.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Nelda Grunden of Klein; daughter and son-in-law, Nelva and Michael Baker of Klein; son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Natalie Grunden of Magnolia; grandchildren Brett Baker, Christopher Baker, Kaleb Grunden, Jasalyn Grunden, and Jaylie Grunden; brothers Clarence (MarySue) Grunden, Fred (Billie) Grunden and sisters Ella (Bill) Gilson, and Opal Smith.

Orvil is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Ira and Flossie Fern (Lester) Grunden and a brother, John Grunden.

Services will be held Monday, August 21st at 10:00 am in the Klein Funeral Chapel on Champion Forest Drive. A private graveside service will take place at the Houston National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 22nd. Visitation will be 9:00 am – 10:00 am, preceding the funeral.
