Thomas Oren Howell 

June 19, 1932 - July 11, 2023 

Thomas O. Howell, a longtime resident of Pine Bluff, and more recently a resident of Bella Vista, died peacefully on July 11, 2023, at the age of 91.

He was a devout believer in Jesus Christ and devoted husband and father. His family, friends and business relationships were all marked by his genuine faith, wisdom and unfailing kindness.

Howell graduated from high school in Magnolia, Arkansas. After serving honorably in the Army, he earned a degree from Texas A&M University in 1959. He enjoyed a distinguished career as a Certified Public Accountant specializing in taxation as a partner with Baird, Kurtz & Dobson in Little Rock/Pine Bluff. While in practice, Howell served as president of the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the Society’s state and federal legislative liaison.

He and his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Howell, raised two children: David Howell of Conway and Judy Howell Adair of Joplin, Missouri. They have four grandchildren- Rebecca Sanders, Margaret Kiger, Scott Howell and Andrea Perkins-and four great grandchildren. After Carolyn’s passing, Thomas married Ramona Howell. The couple enjoyed 7 years together traveling, participating in their church in Bella Vista and family time with their respective families, including Ramona’s three daughters: Hope Lefler, Amy Howell, and Julie Shanks.

Thomas was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn; his parents, Willie and Lavinia Howell; and his three siblings, Earnest, Dorsey, and Mildred. He is survived by his children and their spouses (Beverly Howell and Randy Adair), grandchildren, great grandchildren and beloved extended family.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Thomas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Bella Vista Baptist Church, 50 E Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72714. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. immediately preceding the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bella Vista Baptist Church, 50 E Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72714.
