Billie "Bill" Lynn Couch
January 29, 1929 - June 12, 2023
Mr. Billie Lynn Couch, an outstanding man of faith, family, and country, passed away on Monday, June 12 in Houston, Texas with his loving wife, Bobbie by his side.
Mr. Couch was born January 29, 1929, in Corpus Christi. He spent his childhood years in Aransas Pass until arriving at Texas A&M University in 1946. Bill was a proud Aggie, Class of 1950, Battery “B” Coastal Artillery, who graduated with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. The Bill and Bobbie Couch Endowed Scholarship in Civil Engineering was established in his honor and continues his legacy in support of Aggies pursuing a degree in the field he loved.
After graduation, Bill entered military service as a 2nd LT U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in December 1952. Following his military service, he worked in the petroleum pipeline industry before finding his lifelong career with the Sun Oil Co. as a pioneer in Offshore Drilling and Exploration. During his employment, he and family lived in Beaumont, Corpus Christi; Maracaibo, Venezuela; Houston; Berwyn, PA; and Dallas. While in Venezuela, he and Bobbie founded the Maracaibo Christian Church and later while in Houston, Texas founded the Westside Christian Church.
Mr. Couch is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Bobbie, children: Cathleen Theile, William and spouse Susan Ouren, Debra and spouse Dave Snelling, Bryan and spouse Janice Couch, son-in-law Bryan Charles Boyce, nine grandchildren: Rachael, Amelia, Lauren, DaNae, Maryanne, Stephen, Bryce, Bryana, BraeLynn, and seven great-grandchildren: Derek, Dorothy, CarrieLynn, Fred, Harrison, Leslie, Tyler. He was predeceased by his daughter Bethany.
He will be laid to rest in the Aggie Field of Honor in College Station, Texas with military honors.
