October 18, 1934 - May 15, 2023 

Colonel Frank Joseph Durda, III, US Army Retired, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Trinity Cumberland Presbyterian. Graveside: 2 p.m. Thursday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation and reception: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, in Greenwood Courtyard Reception Room.

Frank was born on October 18, 1934 in Temple, Texas to Madeline and Frank Durda, Jr., the oldest of four children.

Frank was a proud 1956 graduate of Texas A&M University, where he served in the Corps of Cadets. He then further served in the US Army Corps of Engineers and US Army Reserves, retiring as a full bird colonel.

Frank married the former Patricia Ann Elliott in 1956 and their love story spanned 52 years. Additionally, Frank was a registered Professional Engineer, and a recipient of the Gibb Gilchrist Award from the Texas Department of Transportation where he worked for over 40 years. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Frank was an elder at his church, a Tarrant County Master Gardener and long time usher at Casa Manana.

The entire Durda family would like to express their extreme gratitude to his niece, Laura Durda. Laura lived with her uncle for the latter years of his life and enabled him to live out his final years as he wished.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, his brother and sister. Additionally, Frank was predeceased by his beloved Pat, and his sons, Frank IV and Michael.

Survivors: brother, David Durda and sister in law, Pat; brother in law, Richard Elliott; daughter, Karen Doland and husband, Frank; grandchildren, Benjamin, Brian and Paige Doland.; daughter-in law, Colleen Durda; and granddaughter, Kathryn.
