Alton Ray Westberry

Alton Ray Westberry, 64 of Angleton, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 15, 2013. Alton was born September 13, 1949 in Beaumont, Texas to Dick and Gladys Westberry.
Alton married the love of life, Lynn Owens of Angleton, January 18, 1976 and made their home in Angleton raising their two sons. Alton retired from Dow Chemical in 2008 after 34 years of service. Alton enjoyed his retirement years being with his grandchildren, fishing and cooking in BBQ cook-offs. Alton established the “Red Devils” cook team in 1985 and loved the times at the Brazoria County Fair Cook-offs. Before retiring from the Angleton Volunteer Fire Department as Assistant-Chief, Alton spent many good times cooking on family days for the department and most of all providing hot cooked meals for First Responders and Hurricane Duty personnel.
Alton is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lynn, sons Seth Westberry and wife Mari of Austin, their children, Drew, Austin and Lyla Rose; Jerrik Westberry and fiancée Kristi Buford of Angleton, their children, Cayden and Camryn. Parents, Dick and Gladys Westberry of West Columbia, sister and brother-in-law, Penny and Ray Goode of West Columbia and brother-in-law, Robert Owens and wife Doris of Angleton. Favorite cousins Doug Owens and Thomas Skelton of Angleton and faithful four legged companion Tucker. Alton was proceeded in death by his father-in-law who he admired greatly and loved, Harry Owens.
Visitation to be at Palms Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 17th, 2013 at 5:00 pm with a memorial service held at 6:00 pm. Dinner will follow at the American Legion Hall in Angleton afterwards.
