Earl Ray Gordy

Earl Ray Gordy, age 96, of Beaumont, Texas passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023.
Earl graduated from Texas A&M University in 1950 with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He served in the Philippines during WWII, and later, he was recalled to active duty during the Korean conflict.
After his service, Earl took a job with Magnolia Oil Refinery, and later with Mobil Chemical, from where he retired in 1986.
Earl was a faithful and active member of First Christian Church of Beaumont. He was dedicated to working with his church community, the Boy Scouts and youth sports. In his free time, he also enjoyed the craft of woodworking.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Betty Gordy; his parents, Lester Talbot Gordy and Gertrude Dora Gordy; his brother, Leslie Gordy; and his sister, Shirley Jenkins.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Larry Gordy and his wife Debra Brown-Gordy of Tyler, TX, and Craig Gordy and his wife Christi Roquemore-Gordy of Sour Lake, TX; his grandchildren, Carolyn Basinger and her husband Shawn of Colorado Springs, CO, Cheryl Gordy of Tomball, Alex Gordy and his wife Jen of Denver, CO, Chrystie Patton and her husband Chance of Brookshire, TX, Cheri Turney and her husband Justin of Spring, TX, and Bryan Gordy and his wife Celia of Katy, TX; and his sister, Margaret Boldt of Richardson, TX. He will also be lovingly remembered by 13 great-grandchildren.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday April 29, 2023 at 9:00 am at Forest Lawn Funeral Home located at 4955 Pine St., Beaumont, TX 77703 followed by a Celebration of Earl's Life at 10:00 am. Earl will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Eternity immediately following services.
Honorary pall bearers and graveside military tribute will be provided by Southeast Texas Veteran's Service Group.
An endowment scholarship has been established at Texas A&M in Earl's honor. The "Earl R. Gordy '50 Memorial Scholarship" will support Mechanical Engineering students and live in perpetuity with The Texas A&M Foundation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to this lasting, living memory of Earl. Contributions as follows:
