Thomas Calvin Todd
January 11, 1936 - September 17, 2022

Thomas Calvin Todd, age 86, passed peacefully to his eternal home on September 17, 2022. Tom was born on January 11, 1936 in Ranger, Texas to Eston Elroy and Pansy Louise Todd. In his early years, Tom attended 10 different schools before graduating from Pasadena High School (Texas) and joining the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University where he studied Mechanical Engineering and Business. Tom married Paula Brock in 1960. To this union were born three children, Mark, Minda, and Melanie. During many years of employment, Tom served in the US Air Force Reserves. Before retiring in 1997, Tom worked for various engineering companies in Houston, New Orleans, Tulsa, and Mobile.

Tom was a calm, steady man who loved his family, his home state of Texas, and his country. He began every morning by raising the flag above his porch. But most of all, he loved his Lord, whose service was his life’s underlying theme. A faithful member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church, he dedicated himself to caring for the sick, the elderly, and the bereaved. He was a loyal friend and confidant who maintained lifelong relationships with friends, coworkers, and employees from the various places he’d lived and worked. One knew that a word or concern spoken to Tom would be duly considered and safely kept.

Tom had a subdued, self-effacing humor. His chief interest was whatever preoccupied his companion. He was a charitable listener, a patient counselor, a warm advocate, and a great encourager. He held leadership roles in various church, community and professional organizations, including the alumni board of Texas A&M and the National Association of Purchasing Management. Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing and supporting his Aggies. However, golf was his game; even achieving ‘hole in one’ status. The primary pleasure of his life was being in the presence of his family members and serving others.

Tom is survived by his wife of 62 years, Paula; children, Minda Garner and her husband David of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Melanie Boyd and her husband Craig of McKinney, Texas; Susie Todd Howell and her husband Pat of Navarre, Florida; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Todd.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Thomas Todd and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am on October 1,2022 at Ascension Funeral Home, 1016 Hillcrest Road, Mobile, AL 36695. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 am.
