Frederick Wier Adair
June 28, 1936 – August 2, 2022

The Adair family is sad to report that Fred W. Adair passed away peacefully at his home in Fulshear, Texas with his loved ones by his side on August 2nd, 2022 at the age of 86.

Fred was born on June 28, 1936 in Houston, Texas to Weymon and Mildred Adair. He received his degree in mathematics from Texas A&M University in 1959, which was also the year he married his lovely bride of 63 years, Nila. Fred and Nila raised two daughters, Karen and Susan, and a son, Scott in the Clear Lake City area. After a short stint in the Air Force, Fred enjoyed a successful career at IBM and later for BMC Software, but he always put his family first. A lifelong learner, Fred earned his master’s degree in 1973 and was also fond of reading fiction, history and self-help books.

In retirement, Fred loved to admire the hill country views and look at the stars at their lovely home in their adopted town of Boerne, take wonderful trips all over the world with his wife and family, attend all of the many events involving his grandchildren, and meet his friends from his church groups for coffee. Fred was known for his sense of humor and his loyalty to his family and friends, and he loved watching Aggie football and Astros baseball, win or lose.

Fred is survived by his wife Nila, his three children, Karen, Susan and Scott, his brother Tom, his sons-in-law Max and Mark, his five grandchildren Trent, Travis, Leah, Callie and Caroline, and his great granddaughter Emma.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 16th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Katy Funeral Home on 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, Texas. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Family Houston (
