Brian McDonough
March 9, 1937 - May 28, 2022

Brian McDonough passed away on May 28th, 2022 at home in Houston. Brian was born on March 9, 1937 and adopted by Hortense and John Patrick McDonough of Galveston, Texas. Brian obtained his undergraduate degree and his Master's degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A & M. He was a devoted Aggie fan. Brian served in the Army Corps of Engineers from 1961-1967 where he was stationed in France, Vietnam, Virginia and Fort Hood, Texas.

Brian married Ellie Vreeland in 1998 and remained happily married up to the time of his death. He is also survived by his first wife Ann; his daughters Michelle McDonough (Rich Reichler), and Lisa Thilker (Steve Thilker); his step-daughters Beverly Gemello (Mark), Judy Daffer (Wes Lange) and her children Brian and Katie Daffer.

Brian was a life-long Rotarian and believed service to his community was an honor and a privilege that he lived daily. He was an active participant in the Katy Rotary Club. He painted the USA map on many elementary school grounds and spent many hours planning for the annual Wild West Brew Fest.

He was an avid tennis player until age 80 when he took up bowling. He easily made friends, would lend a helping hand and was known for "thinking outside the box" which earned him the nickname MacGyver. A deeply loved and loving man who will be sorely missed!

There will be a short service at the National Cemetery Houston on July 6th at 10:45 am. This will be followed by a celebration of life at the VFW hall at 6206 George Bush Drive, in Katy at 12:00 - 2:00 pm.
