Dr. James Wilson Rundell
August 2, 1940 - November 14, 2016

Funeral services for Dr. James Wilson Rundell, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Dr. Rundell died Monday, November 14, 2016, at St. Francis Medical Center. He owned and operated Rundell Veterinary Hospital, Monroe, LA, which opened in November 1976. He and five others started shelters following hurricane Katrina for displaced animals. He was president of the LVMA- Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association and played an active role in the United States Homeland Security-LSART- Louisiana State Animal Response Team. He was Army intelligence in the Vietnam War. Dr. Rundell was an organ donor.

Dr. Rundell was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Marguerite Rundell; son, Joel Frank Rundell; brother, Frank Rundell; and sister, Annette Rundell Harper.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sharon Boyd Rundell; sister, Jeanette Rundell Ashley and husband Gale; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be James Bryan, Gene Schempf, Jack Williams, James Fuller, Andy Nolan, Rick Sain, Dr. Edwin Davis, and Lloyd Salter.

Visitation will be 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Mulhearn Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to your favorite animal charity.

He lived more in a day than most live in a lifetime.
