Dr. Donald Edgar Johnson
June 22, 1935 - January 7, 2021
Dr. Johnson was born June 22, 1935. He entered Heavens Gates on January 7, 2021 and was 85.
Donald was second child born to Edgar and Alma Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife Ginger Johnson, son David Johnson, parents Edgar and Alma Johnson and sister Marie Sholl. He is survived by his daughter Dianna Johnson, granddaughters, Amanda and
Emma Johnson, brother Jene Johnson and sister Marian Boubel. Dr. Johnson graduated from Burbank High School in 1953.
After earning an academic scholarship, he entered Texas A&M University. While attending A&M he met and married Ginger Martin. He graduated in 1957 with his Master’s Degree in Biochemistry. He and his family moved to Boston Massachusetts where he received his
Doctorate of Biochemistry from Tufts University. He returned to San Antonio where he began working at Southwest Research Institute where he retired as Vice President after 31 years of devotion. He worked on many important projects including studying the effects
of smoking in the 1960’s and he did environmental impact studies on people in large cities. In the 1980’s he oversaw a bomb disposal plant on Johnson Atoll that destroyed thousands of dangerous bombs from all over the world.
Donald was a 35 year resident of his Thunderbolt Ranch in Comfort, Texas and was an active member of the Comfort Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021, 11:30 am, at Comfort Baptist Church in Comfort, Texas.
