David Michael Elkins
March 4, 1952 - March 24, 2021
David Michael Elkins was born in San Angelo, TX on March 4, 1952 to Glyn and Ellen (Gallas) Elkins. David was the oldest of three children who included his sister, Glenda Byrns, and brother, Wayne Elkins. He married Linda Ann Self on July 20, 1974 in Odessa,
TX and they would remain married until his death. They have two children, Amanda Watson and Ty Elkins, and one grandson, Joseph Watson.
David's love of computers began in 1969 when computers were just beginning. He studied computer operations in Dallas, after graduating from high school. He later served in the USAF from 1976-1982 where he taught computer maintenance and would later go to work
for NCR Corp repairing computers. He graduated from Texas A&M with a BBA in College Station as a nontraditional student on 12/16/1995. He worked for the TAMU System for 2+ years before moving to Georgia.
A standard country boy and a man of faith he enjoyed his family, camping, fishing, and generally being outdoors. He was as much of an avid reader as he was an equal storyteller, not shy of regaling you with the glory days of his younger self. This man also
loved his B, C, and D grade action and science fiction movies much to the bewilderment of his family.
In retirement he dreamed of a basement bar stocked with bourbon, raising chickens and growing a garden. Anyone who knew the larger than life David, could say he was intimidating when you first met him (even earning the nickname Evil Eye in basic training),
but would quickly see that he had a heart of gold.
He will be missed by everyone whose lives he's touched and will not easily be forgotten. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10 at Victor Cemetery in Erath County, Texas.
