Silver Taps Will Not Be Observed March 2 In College Station

Hannah Lang '18 March 1, 2021 10:31 AM updated: March 1, 2021 1:41 PM

Silver Taps, usually held on the first Tuesday of each month during the school year, will not be observed March 2 at the College Station campus.

While there was a student death in February, the student’s family has requested that he be honored in April.

Texas A&M University at Galveston will hold an in-person Silver Taps ceremony on Tuesday, March 2, in honor of two students:

  • Wesley J. Mallernee ’24, a marine biology major from Conroe, Texas, who passed away Jan. 28, 2021.
  • Brandon L. Perlowski ’20, a marine transportation major from Lorena, Texas, who passed away Jan. 27, 2021.

Silver Taps is a tribute paid to an Aggie who, at the time of his or her death, was enrolled in graduate or undergraduate courses at Texas A&M. Silver Taps was formerly observed as soon as possible after the death of an Aggie. Today it is held on the first Tuesday of each month from September to April, if necessary.

Silver Taps is one of Texas A&M's greatest traditions. The Association of Former Students expresses our sincere appreciation to donors to The Association for helping support it financially.
