Homer Sanders Whorton Jr.
June 29, 1928 - January 30, 2020


Homer Sanders Whorton, Jr., 91 of Frost, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 in Temple. He was born June 29, 1928 in Blooming Grove to Homer and Corrine Whorton.

Homer was a graduate of Blooming Grove High School and a 1949 graduate of Texas A&M. He served in the United States Army receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Blooming Grove. He worked 30 years for DPS as a Communication Supervisor. He enjoyed radio communications and enjoyed working on radios.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Corrine Whorton; grandparents, Lucy and Homer Whorton.

He is survived by his wife, Lou Whorton of Frost; sister in law, Agnes Soukup Johnson of West; nephews, Thomas Tigner Sr, Dr. Andrew Johnson and wife Dr. Olga Johnson. Nieces, Jane Parker Ivins and husband Gary, Kathleen Johnson Crockett and husband David, Tina Johnson Grant and husband Paul, Lucy Johnson Medlenka and husband Mark. Numerous great nieces, nephews, great great nephews and special friend John Jefferson.

Visitation will be 1pm -2pm Sunday, February 2, 2020 at United Methodist Church in Frost. Graveside service will be 2:30 Sunday at Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blooming Grove Masonic Lodge Building Fund.
