Landon Cowles, 44, of Boerne passed away Dec. 17, 2019, surrounded by his family and friends. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, at St. Helena’s Episcopal Church, 410 N. Main in Boerne.
Landon Wayne Cowles was born on Jan. 10, 1975, in Bay City to Larry Wayne and Lana Kay Hale Cowles. He graduated from Bowie High School in Austin. Following his graduation from Texas A&M University in 1999, he had a successful 20-year career with the Beck Group
in both their San Antonio and Houston offices.
Landon married his college sweetheart Melissa Ann Powell in May of 2003. Together, they were active members of the Boerne community, with soccer, 4-H, Cub Scouts and animal fostering among their many pursuits. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, hiking,
kayaking and traveling with his family. Landon was a loving husband and father, filling his family with laughter and joy.
Landon is survived by his wife Melissa; his children Christopher Coy (Stephanie), Nora Lynn and Olin Ray; his parents Larry and Lana Cowles; his sister Leanne; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Landon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Dixie and Ray Hale; his paternal grandparents Foy and Winnie Cowles; and his brother Lance.
For the past three years, Landon battled Ocular Melanoma. While they are heartbroken that the best doctors in Philadelphia and Houston were unable to stop the progress of this terrible cancer, the family would like to express their gratitude to the many doctors
and nurses at Thomas Jefferson Hospital, MD Anderson Hospital,and River City Hospice.
In lieu of floral remembrances, the family suggests that donations be made to Big Bend Conservancy or the Ocular Melanoma Foundation.
