Obituary for Craig K. Strain
Craig K. Strain passed from this life on December 4, 2019 in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rev. and Mrs. Charles Kirkindoll, and Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Strain. Survivors include his mother, Ann Tillman of Jefferson, TX; father Ernest Strain of Abilene, TX; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Cheryl and Bobby Schroeder of Plano, TX, and Stacia and Dr. Randy Richards of South Palm Beach, FL; three nieces and their spouses, Leigh Schroeder of Austin, Texas, Kayla Schroeder & Ben Carpenter of Dallas, TX and Nikki and George Sabodash of Bedford, TX; two nephews and their spouses, Josh and Savanna Richards of Bismarck, ND; Jacob and Anastasha Richards of Pleasant Prairie, WI; along with several great nieces and nephews, other family members and friends, and many close colleagues and beloved students.

Craig was born in San Angelo, Texas on August 28, 1959, and he spent his childhood growing up in the cities of Abilene and Ft. Worth, TX. While in high school, Craig excelled in the sports of baseball and basketball. After graduating from high school in 1977, Craig attended Texas A&M University where he received a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering in 1981. After a several years in the petroleum industry, Craig was accepted to the graduate program at Rice University. He completed his master’s degree in Economics in 1994. While at Rice, Craig discovered a love for teaching which led to him become a college professor at South Louisiana Community College. At family gatherings Craig shared that some of his most enjoyable times were working with his students and spending extracurricular time with his colleagues in South Louisiana. At the time of his death, he was a resident of St. Martinville. Craig will be missed by his family, friends, colleagues and students.
