Williams “Wib” Hiram Smith passed away peacefully on December 20, 2019. He was born August 25, 1937 in Llano County, Texas to Leonard Luther Smith and Mary Williams Smith.
Asixth generation Texan, he was descended from Alamo defender, Andrew Kent and had five other ancestors who were citizens of the Republic of Texas. His Lee ancestors came to York, Virginia in 1636 as colonists. Lee descendants fought in the American Revolution and later migrated through North Carolina and Mississippi and settled in Llano County, Texas. Five of his ancestors were Confederate veterans.

Wib graduated from Llano High School and attended Texas A&M University, was a member of the ROTC and served in the military. He worked as a brick mason in Houston for 17 years and retired from the city of Houston as a building inspector after 22 years of service. After his retirement, he moved to Kingsland, Texas.

Wib was an avid outdoorsman and furnished fish for many fish fry’s over his life. He was a 53 year member of the Masonic Lodge a veteran and a 6th generation Texan.

He is preceded in death by his siblings: Shirely Baucom, Lynn Liddle, Robert “Bob” Smith and Larry Smith.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Peggy Liddle, Lee Liddle, Suzi Corley, Joan Maner, Janice Baucom, Mark Baucom, Jim Baucom, Mary Francis Tillman, Jeff Smith and Alan Smith.

Services will be held at a later date.
