Was born to Raymond and Marylea Burrow in Crowell, Texas. He was a graduate of Arlington Heights High School, Class of 1952. Don was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets and a proud Aggie, receiving a degree in Architectural Construction from Texas A & M University in 1957. He was married to the late Jane Merritt Burrow and is survived by his wife Ann Merritt Choate Burrow and his children, Allison Burrow Callan (Byron), Cynthia Burrow Lota (J. Kenneth), and Richard Grenville Burrow (Sandra) and grandchildren Kenneth Lota, Byron Callan IV, Ariana Callan, Nathanael Callan, Merritt Lota, Paul Burrow, Shannon Burrow, Patrick Burrow, and Kerrie Burrow. He is also survived his stepchildren Kathie Richard, Paul Choate (Mona), and Jack Choate (Debbie). Don was a member and a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International of both in Metairie, LA and Huntsville, TX.
While living in New Orleans, he worked as an architect with August Perez, Dessin Petit, Seizler Group, and Ladd Ehlinger. He was a member of and served on the vestry of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Orleans, was a former board member of the New Orleans Salvation Army Board of Directors, and served on the board of the Beach Club in Metairie.
When Don and Ann moved to Huntsville, he became a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and joined Rotary International in Huntsville. As a resident of Elkins Lake, Don enjoyed playing tennis and golf.
A memorial service was held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church on Monday January 13, 2020. Interment in the columbarium at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Orleans, LA will take place in the late spring.
