J.E. Pate
May 13, 1940 - December 16, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of J.E. Pate announce his passing.
J.E. died quietly in his sleep at his home on Monday morning Dec. 16, 2019. He went to join his wife Rita Sue Pate.
J.E. was preceded in death by his wife Rita Pate and parents Jep Earl Pate Sr. and Hulda Pate. He will be lovingly remembered by his surviving family: his Sister Mary Morris and husband Don Morris of Belton, his son Alan Pate and wife Tracie Pate of Magnolia, Daughter Valerie Pate of Spring and six grandchildren, Heather Pate, Chris Pate, Sarah Pate, Jenna Pate, Kim Wallace, and Amber Corpus. As well as three great grandchildren: Addison Pate, Wyatt and Everleigh Wallace.
J.E. was born in Athens, Texas in 1940 and his family moved to Schwab City before settling in Livingston, Texas in 1946 where he grew up and graduated from Livingston High School while playing baseball and basketball on the high school team and working at the Livestock Auction Barn. He attended college in Beaumont, Texas at Lamar University where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering but most importantly met the love of his life Rita Sue Crow whom he soon married. He later obtained his Master's in Engineering at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
He created his home for his family in LaMarque, Texas and is where he met and befriended his many lifelong friends through work and his and Rita's participation in the Jaycees service organization.
He worked in the field he loved (Civil Engineering) his entire life first for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Galveston, Texas then as a partner at Pate Engineers in Houston, Texas from where he retired in 2010. He and Rita moved to Spring, Texas in the later part of his career and both enjoyed his retirement in the Spring area.
He made many friends during his lifetime and had a reputation as a practical and fair man in business and a good natured, friendly, and kind man in social settings.
The friends he made and maintained through social groups and business dealings and the relationships with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as the importance he placed upon them speaks volumes to the type of man he was.
A celebration of his life will be held at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, Texas 77379 at 10:00 on December 20, 2019. Following the service his family would like to invite you to a continued celebration at his home at 18502 Arlan Lakes Drive, Spring, Texas 77388 to honor his memory.
The Service will be conducted by Pastor Andrew Wolfe and family and friends will share their stories and memories of J.E.
Condolences to the family may be offered at Klein Funeral Home .

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society.
